We run our own server — voice, channels, DMs, the works. It feels like Discord, but nobody mines your chats, sells your data, or flips a switch and deletes the place. It's ours.
Privacy and free speech, by design
Matrix is an open standard, not a company's product. That changes who's in charge — you, not an ad business.
We host it ourselves
The server runs on our own box. No corporate landlord can ban the community, change the rules, or sunset it out from under us.
Encrypted by default
Direct messages and private rooms are end-to-end encrypted. There's no platform-level scanning or data harvesting — conversations aren't stored in readable form on some company's servers.
2 GB uploads, free
Share up to 2 GB per file at full speed — clips, mods, packs, whatever. No Nitro, no paywall, no 25 MB wall. It's just included.
No ads, no data mining
Open-source software with nothing to sell. You aren't the product, so the software works for you instead of an advertiser.
Speak freely, within reason
Moderation is set by us — the people who live here — not an opaque platform policy written for shareholders. The rules are short and human (read them below).

House rules
The whole thing. No fine print.
We operate on a pretty loose set of rules. We take jokes, but dont be an ass. This is subjective we know, so new users will get a feel for it and we wont be too harsh on them.
Questions
Do I need to be technical?
Nope. If you can use Discord, you can use this. Element looks and works much the same — you just sign in and start chatting.
Is it really free?
Yes. No subscriptions, no Nitro, no upsells. We run the server ourselves and there's nothing to sell you.
What is Matrix / Element?
Matrix is an open chat standard (think email, but for real-time chat) and Element is the app you use to connect to it — like a browser for chat.
Can I use my phone?
Yes — Element has iOS and Android apps, plus desktop and web. Your account works across all of them.
Do I have to leave Discord?
Not at all. Plenty of us use both. Think of this as the place that's actually ours, for the people we want here.
